The blaze broke out in Eastchester on Main Street early in the morning on Sunday, Oct. 13.
First units on the scene were met with heavy smoke and fire on the third floor.
A victim was located and removed, but succumbed to injuries sustained, the Eastchester Professional Firefighters Local-916 said.
The fire was brought under control and contained to only one top floor apartment.
Neither the gender nor identity of the victim has been released.
